Poros

An island with lots of atmosphere, a through with a stone away from Peloponnese.

Passing through the narrow strait, you will enjoy the beauty of the surroundings… The charming houses rise toward the tall and white clock tower on the top of Poros town, and climbing uphill you will pass the small local shops, “kafenion” and small green gardens…

Along the harbour the local fishermen are busy all day and the freshly caught fish and calamares can be enjoyed at the numerous small tavernas right across the street.

Poros is separated in two parts by a small canal. The one part of the island is called Sferia, which is the “rocky” part. The second is called Kalavria. This is a very fertile area with a lot of fruit- and pine trees. This is also the part of the island where the lovely beaches can be found. It is easy and cheap to hire a local taxi boat and discover you own little paradise… or rent a bike and travel around on your own.

From Poros you have lots of excursion possibilities. Both to Peloponnese with the ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, Mycene and Nafplion, but also to the other islands Egina, Hydra and Spetses.

Poros is an island for all ages, offering a variety for everyone; families with children often concentrate around the Askeli-area, while couples without children can enjoy the peace and idyllic area of Neorio.
