Aegina

In the small village of Aegina you can romp about the beautiful neo-classical houses, the charming marina with the busy traffic of fishing boats, the small shops with local handicrafts and local specialities such as olives, honey and pistachio nuts which are world famous.

Along the marina you can enjoy life in full, sitting at one of the small taverns. This is where you meet the locals, discussing the news of the world and the island…

The island has a lot to offer its visitor: Historical monuments, an archaeological museum, the ancient village of Paliachora and various monasteries with great hospitality.

From Aegina you can also visit the surrounding islands of Agistri and Poros and even a day trip to Peloponnese is possible.

The short distance between Aegina and Athens gives you the possibility to do excellent shopping in the capital of Greece and visit the Acropolis within a day.

Aegina offers also nice beaches with shallow waters. The best one is located on the east side of the island at Agia Marina, only 15 min. drive from Aegina town.

Agia Marina is a typical summer resort with many hotels and a rich variety of restaurants and bars, while the town of Aegina is inhabited all the year round, offering another kind of atmosphere.

The “quiet corner” of the island is the picturesque fishing village of Perdika on the southern side of the island.

The days can be spend along the little harbour, where the only disturbing element is the sound of the fishing vessels.

From here you can also visit the rocky island of Moni, known for its many peacocks and deer.
